Manufacturers want to push for higher prices on German paper markets despite summer lull

While manufacturer of graphic paper are finding it hard to implement the hikes, corrugated sheets and packaging producers are now increasingly resentful of the short intervals between price hikes for corrugated case material.

Many companies active on Germany’s paper markets are bracing themselves for a summer slump. Experts told EUWID that order backlogs for July and August were rather sparse. So it came as no surprise that many attempts by graphic paper mills to raise prices due to costs tended to run aground, for example, in the woodfree paper or magazine and catalogue paper sectors. Insiders added that the structural downturn in demand was one factor leading to a noticeable oversupply at the moment.
